Refresh Natural
Energy Drink
I've never been a huge fan of coffee for my
source of caffeine, by the time I can get the flavor to something that I find tolerable I might as well just be drinking milk with sugar added into it. So I've always drunken tea or some sort of energy drink. But the problem with the latter is that there are more a lot of things in them that probably shouldn't be in me. So with that thought in mind I started looking into "natural" energy drinks and only came across a few, then I decided I was going to make the cans for what I think a natural and friendly energy drink would look like.

The first step was coming up with a name for the drink. I wanted the name to be something that would let a consumer know that it was an energy drink. So I looked up some synonyms for energy. I found words like Vitality, Zest, Pep, Zip, Vigor, and Spirit. And while at first I thought Spirit might be able to work I decided it couldn't because generally when we think of the word Spirit linked to a drink its an alcoholic beverage.

From there I went on to the design
of the can wrap. At first the design was
a smaller version of the arrow but it didn't give off the dynamic look that I thought the can needed to convey the idea of being an energy drink. So from there I made the arrow bigger and more of a center piece of the can, but there
was still a problem with the placement of the name. The "R" of the name was originally positioned on the left hand side of the large arrow and was pointing down, which was inadvertently giving off a connotation of slowing down, which was not something that I wanted to convey, so I switched the name and the bubbles about the key nutrition facts to the other side of the arrow in order to make the "R" point upwards.

I then thought about how you refresh a web page when browsing and thought that would be a word that fit perfectly for the feeling of the drink that I wanted. The drink would be a way to refresh your energy.

For the logo I wanted a font that felt inviting, fun, and energetic. I decided
on Sauna Pro because of the bubbly nature of the font. I also replace the "R" with an arrow to give off the idea of refreshing and because it would be used as an abstract mark for the can design.
